We agree on terms
Once you've told us you're interested, we'll confirm the domain name and the price in writing — no surprises, no pressure. This is typically done over email before anything moves to escrow.
We open an escrow transaction
We use Escrow.com to handle every sale. Neither party pays or transfers anything directly to the other — your payment and our domain both sit with a licensed, neutral third party until the deal is fully complete. This protects you as the buyer just as much as it protects us.
You submit payment to escrow — not to us
Your funds go to Escrow.com, not to Restored Domains. We don't see or touch your payment until the transfer is confirmed and you're satisfied.
Once payment clears, we transfer the domain
Escrow.com verifies your payment and then instructs us to transfer the domain into your name. In plain terms, this just means updating who "owns" the domain in the official registry, the same way a car title gets signed over to a new owner. You don't need any technical knowledge to receive it — here's what actually happens:
- If you and we use the same registrar (the company where domains are bought and managed, like GoDaddy or Namecheap), we simply push the domain directly into your account. You'll get a notification from your registrar that a new domain has arrived, and you accept it with a click.
- If we use different registrars, we'll generate a one-time transfer code (called an "authorization code" or "EPP code") for the domain and send it to you. You enter that code into your own registrar's website, in the section usually called "Transfer a Domain." This tells the internet's domain system to move the domain from our account to yours. We'll walk you through exactly where to enter it if you're not sure.
Either way, we stay available by email throughout this step, and nothing is final on our end until you've confirmed the domain has landed in your account.
You confirm you've received it
Once the domain shows up in your registrar account, you confirm receipt through Escrow.com.
Funds are released to us
Only after your confirmation does Escrow.com release payment to Restored Domains. If anything isn't right, funds stay in escrow until it's resolved.
What this means for you
- You never send money directly to us. Your payment is held by a licensed third party until you have the domain.
- We never receive payment before you have what you paid for.
- Typical timeline: up to 2 weeks from agreed terms to completed transfer, most of it driven by payment clearing and registrar processing.
- Escrow fees: covered by the buyer.
